STEM MASTERING

A new service that allows the engineer to retain as much separation and dynamic range as possible and obtaining the clarity and loudness desired. The artist sends their full session of audio tracks, each bounced from the beginning to the end of the session. We then sum these tracks into the best possible stems to work from with the flexibility to revisit the individual tracks if needed.

Mastering in analogue stems is a modern method of refining a mix by separating each kind of instrument into its own “stem”. More than any other processes, the stems mastering offers an unprecedented and maximum control in optimizing and enhancing your music. This method also preserves the track’s musicality and dynamics. It is more accurate than applying traditional equalizers and compressors to a stereo mix of complex waveforms. Mastering in stems does what multi-band compressors dream of doing. The number of stems mixed depends on your music. How we do it : The stems of your mix are processed in analog devices and mixed into a summing mixer before going into our upscale stereo mastering chain.

Our mastering studio is one of the very few mastering studios in Europe to provide real analog mastering with a true analog summing. We process each track in a Class A or an upscale gear, granted a true analog mastering chain.

We encourage a dialogue with our clients so that they can help us to help them. We always ask our clients to send us a pre-master of their mix so that we can identify any problem areas prior to the session. Vast improvements to the mix can be achieved with 4 or 5 stems. The result is far superior to anything that could be achieved with normal stereo mastering.
